COMMUNITY LEARNING WORK EVALUATON OPPORTUNITIES
SUMMARY – planning to evaluate community learning work – three checklists.
1. How can we gain the evidence of performance and success?
- Conversation , comments, quotes and anecdotes by learners
- Observation including of body language; group dynamics
- Group discussion and feedback
- Quantitative data
- Individual learner recordings.
- Learner responses in assessed situations – question and answer
- Feedback from other learners, colleagues and observers
- Witness statements.
2. How we can record the evidence of performance and success?
- Reflection and recording by worker, e.g., in a diary or daily log
- Individual client and group records
- Reflection and recording by individual learners
- Recording engagements with clients and groups – evidencing support, achievements, progress, outcomes
- Listening, watching and probing by worker – recorded
- Reporting – summative and formative reports by workers; workers; clients; others
3. Who makes and reviews the judgements?
- Workers – performance review, self-assessment, review and planning
- Client judgements – learner self-assessment – learner evaluation
- Collective judgements and reviews by groups
- Feedback from others – witness statements, performance reviews, observations, inspections
- Peer and co-worker reviews
- Judgements by outside bodies and agencies – based on observed or reported evidence.
