WHAT IS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY?

 

SUMMARY

A worksheet to prompt participants to contribute ideas about individual capacity and capacity building, within five areas of individual capacity:

 

1.         Individual capacity – what makes up our mental health and well-being – what we know and feels about ourselves?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2.    Individual capacity – what is our physical health and well-being?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 3. Individual capacity – what do we need to know and understand about the world?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 4.    Individual capacity – what helps us to learn and think?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 5. Individual capacity – what helps us to relate to others?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This exercise can be used with small groups, either for each to focus on one aspect and then to share ideas or for each group to work through the five areas and then share.

 

Further discussion could focus on:

a)     How might aspects of an individual’s capacity be identified by a worker for the individual?

b)     What barriers to learning and capacity building might exist within each area?

c)      How might barriers be overcome when encouraging and enabling learners to build their individual capacity?
